The theatrical film and the home edition
A movie can have more than one presentation. A theatrical IMAX release is not proof that each home offer uses expanded framing, the same aspect ratio or an identical audio presentation. Read the description of the actual offer.
Why the picture may change shape
Some editions use different framing for different sequences. Do not stretch a film automatically to eliminate every black bar. A full screen is not necessarily the intended composition, and stretching can distort faces and objects.

Start from Interstellar (2014) and use the Interstellar viewing guide to keep the 2014 film and your edition choices together. Compare the provider's description when an IMAX-related presentation is important to you.
Do not confuse a cut with a frame
An expanded picture area and an extended running time are different properties. A film can offer different framing without adding a new scene. Look at the edition name, duration and format details separately.
When the television does the cropping
If faces or subtitles appear cut off, inspect the television's aspect-ratio or zoom setting using its instructions. Return to a normal fit mode before blaming the film. Avoid changing unrelated sound or connection settings while diagnosing a framing problem.
