4K and HDR answer different questions
Resolution concerns picture dimensions. High dynamic range concerns how the supported picture represents brightness and colour. A 4K title can be offered without HDR, so check the actual edition instead of treating the terms as interchangeable.
Dolby Vision and sound are not the same upgrade
Dolby distinguishes Vision and Atmos as picture and sound technologies. An offer displaying one does not automatically supply the other. Inspect the film and the supported playback setup for both.
SDR can be the right selection
A supported standard-dynamic-range version is a sensible choice on a screen or application that does not handle the offered HDR format. Do not assume that an unusually dim or washed-out picture is how the film must look.
Start with your actual offer
A service may attach requirements to particular quality options. For example, Netflix's picture-quality help relates playback quality to the plan, title, equipment and connection. Read the equivalent information from whichever service you choose.
Give the screen a fair test
Judge the picture from your normal seat with room lighting similar to the way you normally watch. A vivid demonstration mode in a bright shop is not a useful target for every film at home. Change only settings you understand, using the display's own instructions.
Choose the story too
Dune (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024) form a clear two-film path through this catalogue. Keep each chapter distinct when comparing offers, rather than assuming a purchase or subscription page covers both.
